Dave has been married to Debbie Langley Johnson since July 26, 1997.

Evangelism and church planting has been Dave's passion since coming to the Philippines in 1994, and it continues to be a major focus. Additionally, he is passionate about doing theology in the local context as well as reflecting on it through writing. His forthcoming book, Theology in Context: A Case Study in the Philippines, which is his doctoral dissertation rewritten for a wider audience, is one evidence of this passion. His recent acceptance of the managing editor's position of the Asian Journal of Pentecostal Studies and the Directorship of APTS Press will provide other opportunities for expressing the passion.

Apart from the ministry he enjoys spending time with Debbie, reading, weightlifting, basketball, walking, and playing with Sam, his Doberman.
