  Master of Arts Degree Program

The Master of Arts in Ministry is a 36-credit graduate degree. It is designed to provide advanced training for those called to ministry in the local church or a related context. It may also be of value for Bible school teachers who wish to specialize in the practical ministry area.

The Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies is a 36-credit graduate degree, and Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies-Islamic Studies Concentration is a 48-credit graduate degree. These degrees are designed to enable individuals in the Asia Pacific region to develop a balanced missions philosophy for effective cross-cultural missionary service, and leadership. They also provide a foundation for pursuing graduate studies beyond the Masters level.

The Master of Arts in Theology is a 48-credit graduate degree designed to provide advanced training in theological and biblical studies. This program is especially valuable for Bible school teachers and administrators, as well as those who wish to go on to doctoral studies.

The Master of Arts in Intercultural Education is  a  36-credit  graduate  degree.  This degree empowers students to deepen their theological knowledge and develop excellent teaching skills and methodologies for use within diverse cultural settings. It equips students to apply for education jobs in many different contexts.

Master of Arts in Ministry (36 credits)

Prerequisites:

  • 24 credits in Bible/Theology courses
  • 12 credits in Ministry courses including Homiletics and Pastoral Ministries

Notes:

  • If a similar course was taken at the undergraduate level for credit, the student must substitute another course in the same division. The substitute course is selected in consultation with the Registrar or the Academic Dean.
  • The prerequisite hours may be accumulated through additional APTS courses, Global University college courses, courses taken at a Bible school, or another approved study program. They must be completed before the last 12 credits of the degree. Twelve of the last 15 credits must be taken with APTS, residence or extension.
    * It is strongly recommended that three credits be in Ministry Practicum courses.
  • Those holding a Graduate Certificate in Ministerial and Theological Studies only need to complete 24 credits for this degree.

  • Twelve of the last 15 credits must be taken with APTS, residence or extension.
  • Those holding a Graduate Certificate in Ministerial and Theological Studies only need to complete 36 credits for this degree.
    * For Theology Concentration – Students must take BHE III and any BHE any Exegesis (or) BGR III and BGR any Exegesis.
    ** If taking a biblical concentration, the student must follow the Testament of concentration.
    *** Cannot be History of Missions.
    **** Both Systematic Theology I and II must be taken for the program.
    ***** Electives must be Bible, History, Pentecostal Studies, Theology or Philosophy.
