Ministerial Background Prior to joining the faculty of APTS in June 1991 Roli served as children’s pastor and pioneering pastor of three local congregations. He is an ordained minister of the Philippines General Council of the Assemblies of God.
Areas of Research Interest, Writings and Teaching
Roli’s Th.M. thesis title is “Anointed to Proclaim Christ: The Implications of Luke’s Use of Joel 2:28-32 in Acts 2 for the Eschatological Mission of the Philippines General Council of the Assemblies of God.” His Th.M. thesis was examined by Dr. Engracio Samson and Dr. Bobby Grayson. During his studies at the Baptist seminary his theological framework was highly influenced by Dr. Graham B. Walker, Jr. (now with Mercer University). Roli's doctoral work in New Testament textual criticism is entitled: “Allegory, Mimesis and the Text: Theological Moulding of Lukan Parables in Codex Bezae Cantabrigiensis.” His Ph.D. thesis examiners were Prof. J. K. Elliott (Leeds University) and Dr. M. S. Goodacre (now with Duke University). Prof. D. C. Parker was his Doktorvater in Birmingham. His current research interest is in the area of New Testament textual criticism, contextual biblical hermeneutics and Pentecostal theology and practices. Koine Greek, New Testament courses and interpretation of the Scriptures are the courses that Roli enjoys teaching. He has published a few journal articles and book reviews. Family and Personal Interest
Besides his teaching responsibilities at APTS, Roli is also involved with church ministries in Metro-Baguio through teaching and preaching in the local congregations. He likes strumming an acoustic guitar, playing basketball and running along Ambuklao Road during his free time. He is happily married to Amy who is the Registrar of APTS. Roli and Amy have one daughter, Katelyn Rose.
