Following a calling to theological education, he did theological studies in Regent College, Canada and gained a PhD in New Testament from Durham University, UK. He has taught in Bible Colleges and Seminaries in the UK, Australia, Ethiopia, India, Latvia, Ukraine, Malaysia and the Philippines and has preached regularly in churches, wherever he has lived. Areas of Research Interest, Writings and Teachings Stuart's doctoral research focused on the rhetoric, theological anthropology and transformative potential of the Gospel of Mark. His thesis was published as Good News at Gerasa (Peter Lang, 2011). His latest book is Self-Denial: A New Testament View (Wipf and Stock, 2019) exploring the idea and implications of self-denial as taught by Jesus, Paul, and other NT writers. Family and Personal Interests Stuart is married to Dr Kathleen Rochester. When they are not at APTS they are at home in Tasmania, Australia, where they have four children and six grandchildren. He loves playing the piano and the organ and has been involved in musical leadership of many Christian musicals with his wife.
