01. Accessing Moodle
To access moodle, type https://moodle.apts.edu/login on your browser and log in using your account details. We recommend using Firefox, Chrome,or Safari when accessing Moodle.
For new students who have yet to receive their account details please request an account by emailing moodle@apts.edu
02. Customizing your Profile
After logging in, you’ll be directed to your user dashboard where your course will normally be displayed. Proceed to customize your profile page by clicking on your profile photo at the top-right corner of your screen->then select Profile. In your profile, you should describe a few key characteristics about yourself, your location, your contact information
03. Enrolling to a Course
After you’ve setup your profile, the next step would be to enroll to your courses. To start, make sure you have the enrollment keys of your respective courses. If not, please email your instructor or records@apts.edu.
If you have the enrollment key, navigate to the top of your screen and select Courses -> Course Search
Search for the name or code of the course you’ve enrolled in. Make sure you read the course details as there might be similar courses with different teachers. After finding your course, enter the course enrollment key under the self-enrollment sections.
04. Activities Block
Finally, the biggest, most heavily-used block, that you need to know how to access, is your activities block. In this block, you will find your list of assignments, current chat conversations, choices, forums (designed to accompany your specific courses), glossaries, quizzes, surveys, resources wikis, and the actual lessons themselves.
04.1. Section Blocks
Upon accessing your course, you’ll most probably greeted by course sections, these are the boxes you see in your screen. Similar to folders, these boxes contains your activities and resources. To access their contents, simply click on each box.
04.2. Downloading Resources
There are many resources that are supported by Moodle, however, the most common type that you’ll encounter will be those from Microsoft (word, ppt, excel), pdfs, links, or video files. To download these resources, simply click on their file names and they’ll be automatically downloaded. PDF files will open to a new tab, so you’ll need to download them from your browser.
04.3. Accessing & Submitting Assignments
Assignments are denoted by a paper icon enclosed in a blue circle. To access the assignment, simply click on the assignment title, and a new window will load containing the information about the assignment.
To submit your assignment, click on the Add Submission button and upload your file or files. Make sure to save your assignment as a pdf to avoid incompatibility issues.
04.4. Accessing & Submitting Assignments
Quizzes or Exams are denoted by a list icon enclosed in a red circle. To access the quiz/exam, click on the title then click on the Attempt Quiz Now.
Be sure to remember the date and duration of your quizzes. Timing for each quiz is based on UTC+8 or based on your class hours. Quizzes upon reaching the deadline will automatically close and your entries are automatically saved. In cases where you’re given multiple tries for each quiz, grades are calculated by taking the average of all retakes taken for the quiz.
04.5. Forums
Denoted by a purple icon, forums are discussion areas typically used by teachers to interact with students outside of zoom. With forums, students are free to create their own topics or reply to existing topics.
04.5.1 Adding a Topic
To add a new topic, open the forum tab and click on the add new topic. Indicate the topic subject and message (description/question), then click post to forum.
04.5.2 Replying to a Topic
To reply to a topic, open the forum topic. Click on the reply button at the right of your screen. Write your reply and click on post to forum.
05. Grades Sections
To view your grades or scores on your activities, select the grades icons on your left sidebar. On your grades dashboard, choose User Report if you want to view all your scores in the course that you’re in. Choose Overview Report if you want to view your total grade on each of your courses.
